REVIEW: Fire Balls by Tara Lain

Rodney is a small, flamboyant artist with a black belt. He’s infatuated with firefighter Hunter, but he knows he’d never come near a pipsqueak like him. When Rod’s surfer best friend, Jerry, develops a crush on Hunter, he begrudgingly helps Jerry land his man. Hunter is what you would call “straight gay” and hates the flamboyant types. When the tiny artist rescues him from a firehouse bully, he seems to hate him that much more…until he’s forced to face his feelings and make some important decisions.

Title:  Fire Balls
Series:  Balls to the Wall
Book #: 2
Author:  Tara Lain
Approximate Book Length:  102 Pages
Recommended Reader Age:  18+
Sexual Content:  Explicit

Loved it. LOVED it! It’s emotional from the first page as Rodney is subject to his obsession with Hunter and purposely walks past the firehouse in hopes of just glimpsing him, and further as his buddy Jerry gets a gander at Hunter and seeks to land him with Rodney’s help.

Hunter is a complex character himself, being the big tough firefighter and having to put up with crap from a jerk of a coworker. When Rodney ends up coming to his defense in public, it only serves to confuse and frustrate Hunter that much more. Their struggle with each other and a few outside factors is both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time.

As for the actual romance, smokin’ hot and incredibly sexy. They were a little reluctant at first, for reasons you’ll have to read to find out, but that only added to the steam. Truly a wonderful, enjoyable, touching, and satisfying story. If I wasn’t already a fan of Tara Lain, this would make me one.

In Conclusion:

Fire Balls is a scorching romance between a sexy firefighter and a bold artist. They both learn a lesson in being proud of who they are and having to fight for what they want. My favorite of the series!
