REVIEW: The Host by Stephenie Meyer

***This book was originally reviewed for GraveTells.*** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Summary:Earth is no longer our own; the souls rolled in and took it right out from under us, leaving few survivors. Melanie, one of the few remaining “wild” humans, refuses to fade away when a parasitic soul is forced into her body. Warned about the difficulties of possessing a human, Wanderer is unprepared to deal with Melanie’s spirit and independence, and their struggle against each other leads to a grueling journey about life, love, and humanity.
Thoughts:Now I know you’re thinking “wtf is this? I’m a romance fan, not sci-fi!” and I can sympathize. I debated over reading it until the decision was made for me and the book gifted to me. So, I ventured in, and I have to admit the first 10 chapters or so are really (seriously) slow, because it’s all world building. I decided to keep trudging through though. Best. Decision. Ever.

We start off with Wanderer being inserted and finding out Melanie …

REVIEW: A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux

Summary:Abandoned by her lover, thoroughly modern Dougless Montgomery finds herself alone and brokenhearted in an old English church. She never dreamed that a love more powerful than time awaited her there... until Nicholas Stafford, Earl of Thornwyck, a sixteenth-century knight, appeared.

Drawn to him by a bond so sudden and compelling that it defied reason, Dougless knew that Nicholas was nothing less than a miracle: a man who would not seek to change her, who found her perfect just as she was. But she could not know how strong were the chains that tied them to the past -- or the grand adventure that lay before them.

REVIEW: The Six Swans by Annabeth Leong

***This book was originally reviewed for My Secret Romance.*** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Summary:The young King Evan struggles to become a man and ruler amid the choking influence of his mother’s spies and machinations. When he meets a silent, beautiful woman in the woods, he can’t resist the pure, honest sensuality of her touch. Bringing her to the castle as his wife and queen is Evan’s declaration of independence. The king’s hard-won happiness falls apart, however, when his mother accuses his new wife of murdering their first-born child. Evan believes that the private, physical language he shares with his queen tells him everything he needs to know, but as tragedy strikes again and again, his love and faith are tested to the breaking point. "The Six Swans" retells an old fairy tale of a princess who must take a vow of silence to save her brothers from a curse, the king who falls in love with her despite the seeming insanity of the curse conditions, and the sexual connec…

BLOG TOUR: Allegiance by Susannah Sandlin

Thanks to Bewitching Book Tours for hosting this blog tour. I have Susannah Sandlin, author of Allegiance here today. Welcome!
Does Real Life Bleed Into Fiction?
“This is really dark. I was surprised at how dark it was.” That was one of my editors recently, talking about the manuscript we’re about to start revisions on. It’s in my urban fantasy series (as Suzanne Johnson), coming out early next year. I had an explanation: “Things are going down a slippery slope in this world. It has to be darker.”

Then ALLEGIANCE came out this week, and I knew it was a dark book—to me, all of the books in the Penton Legacy series have been a blend of darkness, action and humor. Like my editor, a couple of readers and reviewers have expressed surprise at how dark the Penton world had gotten. (Don’t worry, there’s still a lot of humor—a lot!—and smexy times with hot hero Cage and the uncontrollable eagle-shifter Robin!)

So I started thinking about why, unconsciously, I …

REVIEW: Reluctant Revenge by Xandra James

***This book was originally reviewed for My Secret Romance.*** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Summary:Nash was bound to her completely – by a blood connection and a deep desire. An Enforcer for the Supranormal community, he was obligated to protect the sexy assignment from those who coveted her future Angelic abilities, but can he forgive the woman whose family had devastated his world? Sienna, upon the realization she'd been betrayed by her family for keeping her birthright a secret, seeks solace in the arms of her surly and reluctant protector; a demon hybrid with a secret of his own. Can she come to terms with her destiny after discovering that she could be as dangerous as those Nash was protecting her from?
Thoughts:The book starts off with action and comes off as very intriguing. The suspense over what is going on is kind of fun at first, but quickly becomes somewhat frustrating. Over time, things honestly just got pretty confusing, and even though we do get some revelations, …

REVIEW: Besotted by Georgia Le Carre

Summary:Blake is now the new head of the Barrington dynasty. 'Forget the past, you are safe now,'he whispers.

But I can't feel safe.

How can I? I fear for him. The secrets are many and the road he travels is dark and treacherous.

And I still need answers to burning questions.

Why has he still not dealt with Victoria, who still remains too close for my comfort?

What will happen if Marcus re-enters our lives?

Will we ever really, truly be free from the tentacles of this ancient dangerous family?
Title:  Besotted
Series:  Billionaire Banker
Book #: 3
Author:  Georgia Le Carre
Approximate Book Length:  171 Pages
Recommended Reader Age:  18+
Sexual Content:  Explicit

Thoughts:I feel like this was mostly just filler. There wasn’t really any plot progression and there were mere cameos from other previously relevant or potentially relevant characters. This was really more of just a transition book.

I like Blake a lot better in this book, and I feel like Lana is much stronger …
