How did you come up with Seeking the Storyteller ? Jessica: We met on the internet back in college and spent every night chatting online. We would roleplay with our favorite characters from different shows and create our own plots. Eventually they all earned their own personalities and storylines and it basically evolved into this story over many years. Briana: At one point, our apartment was broken into. In that break-in, one of the things taken were our laptops, which had all of our roleplay files on them. That meant we had to start over. Somehow, through that restart, we came up with the idea of the Storyteller: a creature who could make anything happen by writing it in a book. I wrote a little in school when I was a teenager because we had to write the opening chapter of a gothic horror and it really got my mind working, and my teacher liked mine so much that she read it out to the class. I wrote more for it, had a whole plan for the story, but then schoolwork took over and it fell to the wayside. I didn’t write until 2003 after that. I got really into writing fanfiction for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and was running my own fanfiction website for my stories. A friend who was writing the same genre as me convinced me to give writing something original with my own characters a go. I took a little convincing but I took the leap and really loved it. My college instructor told me that I couldn’t catch my typos so no editor would ever hire me. (This was before WORD) He told me to change my major. The shrink asked me to write from my earliest memories with as much detail as I could manage. I handed her ten pages, single-spaced, typed, twice a week. Somewhere among my travels along the internet, I stumbled across Mirelle Chester and her work. I grabbed Crossover and even have a copy of Tyler's Story (that I will be reviewing as soon as I can), but it was actually her Angered Seasons series that I first tried. I got started in the blogging world because I read a book I loved, stalked the author, and decided I'd start a blog for when I got to writing. Now life took me in a direction that made me decide to dive into reviewing rather than writing for a long while, but that simply made me learn more about the world of being a blogger. Along that journey, I followed blog hops. I entered to many giveaways, but also met some amazing people and found some really great authors and books. Among those that I first came across in my complete newbie days was Sarah M Ross. She'd just released her first book and I won a copy. I'm a big fan of shifters in paranormal romance. I started out as a vampire girl, but shifters have begun to take over and be my favorite. More specifically, while I love all shifters, I'm a cat person. I came across a book about cat shifters that had good reviews. I read the first and loved it. I managed to connect with her via other blogs and Facebook and got a chance to read an ARC of Mate Claimed , which is book 4 in the Shifters Unbound series (the rest of which I'll work on getting reviews done for!).
