Happy reading! ***************************** When the rules force you to deny whom you love, it’s time to break them. Jonah is sick and tired of hiding his lovers, Olivia and Hank, from his wolf pack. But being second in command to the Alpha means he has to follow them, right? He’s willing to do whatever it takes to bring his two families together, and keep everyone safe. Buy at ARe ~EXCERPT~ “I can’t spare you tonight, Jonah,” Boothe said. “We have a pack meeting tonight, and there’s unrest about the territory being invaded by those fucking coyote hybrids.” Jonah stopped on his way out the door, his shoulders pulling up around his ears. “I told you I was out of po...

And that’s why he was in his thirties and had nothing to show for his life. He needed a complete overhaul, just like his father’s old house. Instead of a fast track, he had slowed down and was on a ten year plan. These days that was more his speed. And as much as he tried to fight the inevitable, he was learning to accept and surrender. Martha had weathered her fair share of storms in Vermont, was accustomed to the cold, both the chill in the air and the cold shoulder in her marriage, but after the miscarriage s...

REVIEW: Bar Mate by Rebecca Royce

Image
***This book was originally reviewed for GraveTells .*** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Summary: Wolf-shifter Yvette Nelson is incredibly bored with her job as a waitress at Gunther’s Bar. Until one night, when a man she’s never met enters the place. He makes her wolf want to come out and play—she has to have him. Stark just wanted a beer. But Yvette brings out yearnings in him he didn’t even know he had. Together, they’ll find that letting go of inhibitions can open up all kinds of fun times, like a chance at forever. Thoughts: This was a good and hot little story, but I felt like I was missing something like little scenes here and there. It also feels incredibly short, which I know is the point, but this one feels too short like it was cut off too abruptly instead of ending smoothly. That being said, the relationship itself is hot. Both parties seem to be the dominating type, but they have no problem giving and taking with each other. Yvette as a shifter is partic...

REVIEW: Mate by the Music by Rebecca Royce

Image
***This book was originally reviewed for GraveTells .*** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Summary: A mission to find his brother sends Scott Quaid to Gunther’s Bar, but a storm has emptied the place of everyone except a beautiful shifter hot enough to dry his damp leathers. Nancy Elwood has faced the worst of humans and shifters alike and has no intention of ever letting her guard down again, until a handsome biker sweeps in with the rain. As background music throbs around them, a different type of vibration urges two strong souls to mate with animalistic passion. Thoughts: This installment had a slightly different feel than the others did for me, and not at all in a bad way. Instead of a crowded bar where the two characters see each other and immediately seek a little privacy, we have an empty bar with a little spontaneity. Scott and Nancy have a hot, but softer chemistry (though still with that wolf shifter edge) and their story is sweet and oddly romantic. It’s just p...

REVIEW: In from the Cold by Taryn Kincaid

Image
Summary: Spook Raines is a burnt-out spy who doesn’t know he’s a fire demon with a twin in Sleepy Hollow. Geneviève Mortimer is a will o' the wisp who hunts demons to ease the pain of her troubled past. When Madame Eve brings them together for a torrid 1Night Stand, will they be able to come in from the cold at last? Title:   In from the Cold Series:   1Night Stand Book #:  N/A Author:   Taryn Kincaid Approximate Book Length:   54 Pages Recommended Reader Age:   18+ Sexual Content:   Explicit Thoughts: I liked the chemistry between Spook and Genny. I enjoyed how everyone related and the cameos from previous Sleepy Hollow books. However, the history reveal was rushed and confused me greatly. While I enjoyed it, I overall just found it a little messy and fluffy. I expected more conflict and there just wasn’t. Bottom Line: In from the Cold is a sweet story of overcoming your past and finding happiness through love and famil...

Image
Summary: Sent into the human realm to retrieve prodigal princess, Zena Night, Bhyrne Raines is shocked and unprepared for his carnal reaction to the sexy succubus. In service to the succubus queen, the rugged enforcer must stifle the instant passion exploding within him. Fulfilling his royal duty doesn’t allow for quickie dalliances. Reluctant to give up her carefree life of partying among the mortals when the hot-as-sin Bhyrne comes to fetch her for the queen, Zena uses her succubus wiles to entice him, or at least delay the inevitable trip to the royal court. REVIEW: Lightning by Taryn Kincaid

Image
***This book was originally reviewed for GraveTells .*** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Summary: Lily is a traumatized succubus after putting her prom night lover into a coma after amazing sex. She’s steered clear of mortals since, afraid of hurting them, plus she knocks out the power whenever she has sex with the lightning that comes along with her. Campbell was changed after that sexy, but strange prom night. He throws himself into work to forget the woman he loved. They both remember that night and the love they shared. They have no idea what 1Night Stand really has in store for them. Thoughts: This novella was just plain funny! Very witty, it’ll have you laughing out loud on occasion. The world created is fun and interesting, though I wish we got a little more insight into it, such as why does the lightning come along with sex for a succubus or incubus. The chemistry between the main characters is sizzling. Almost literally, it’s like barely harnessed power. ...

REVIEW: Paging Doctor Wolf by Rebecca Royce

Image
***This book was originally reviewed for GraveTells .*** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Summary: As a trauma surgeon, Dallas is too busy to date, so he signs up with 1Night Stand, but his plans are derailed by a savage wolf attack. Still recovering, he agrees to meet with the woman Madame Eve found for him anyway. Werewolf Cara is disappointed when her date is cancelled at the last minute, but finds out a few weeks later why. She agrees to meet with him to help him to help him through all the changes he’s experiencing. Running out of time, they each meet with their own ideas, never realizing what Madame Eve really had in mind. Thoughts: Rebecca Royce certainly has a way with writing werewolves. She’s got plenty of world building in such a short time that catches anyone not familiar with her work up without any confusion. You can tell there have been other stories prior to this one, but it doesn’t hurt at all if you’ve not already read them, though it does peak your i...

REVIEW: A Scent of Longing by Cara Bristol

Image
***This book was originally reviewed for GraveTells .*** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Summary: Lily won’t date a vampire, not ever again. The last time she did, it got her turned into one. She agrees to a one night stand only because she believes that she doomed to such trysts now. Luc, a three century old vampire, can’t continue to play into the fantasies of young ladies while he longs for a mate. He vows this will be his last, giving up all hope. Madame Eve is a skilled matchmaker, and has a surprise in store for both of them that neither are prepared for. Thoughts: From the very beginning, you get emotionally involved as you witness Lily struggle with the concept of re-entering the dating world while still adjusting to her new life as a vampire, courtesy of a former lover. Her friend convinces her to give one night stand a shot, and though she’s nervous, she gathers her courage to go through with it. Luc knows he’s supposed to meet his mate, but fears his time h...

REVIEW: Out of Place Mate by Rebecca Royce

Image
***This book was originally reviewed for GraveTells .*** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Summary: Sean Quaid’s brothers don’t think he is very shifter-friendly. He certainly does not seem happy that they have both married and haven’t been showing up to work. Victoria Bensen wants nothing more than to cool him down and get him to stop making such a scene at Gunther’s Bar. When she drags him to the staging room at the back of the bar, she doesn’t know that it will be Sean bringing down her barriers, not the other way around. Thoughts: This is such a short book, yet it’s actually pretty well done. You understand the world setting, the mating instinct, and the characters. The character development is the most impressive, because at 11 pages long, you can imagine how hard that’s going to be to convey. You get an emotional connection with Tori, and a sense of what kind of man Sean really is. However, it still leaves you wanting to see more of them and their story. Rebecca R...

REVIEW: Special Force by Brynn Paulin

Image
***This book was originally reviewed for The Forbidden Bookshelf .*** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Summary: Amelia Barker and Keon Munro are about to meet face-to-face for the first time. With F-16 butterflies dive-bombing her belly, she nervously awaits her soldier and the promises he made over the internet. Fresh off deployment, Keon is ready for some one-on-one action with the woman who captured his heart through cyberspace. Too bad she’s not who he thinks she is. Either way, she’d better be ready for his special force. He’s been dreaming of this night for months, and her sweet behind is his. Thoughts: This is a quickie read, but oh so enjoyable. I’m a sucker for a man in uniform, so I loved the military angle, and the homecoming scenario that’s created. Though I’ve never been in that position, the way it’s portrayed feels authentic. The dynamic between the characters feels a little awkward at first, but once they get past big secret, the chemistry is sizzling. Th...

He’s played out scenes, he’s knelt, he’s served to the best of his ability, but he’s still yet to date any woman who inspires inside him a genuine desire to completely submit in the way he’s always desired. When he suddenly feels someone watching him across the room, Mark doesn’t expect it to be Olivia. He really doesn’t expect the interest he feels in her to be returned either. However, Mark needs to learn to expect the unexpected, once he starts obeying Olivia. Thoughts: This story is a little quickie, bringing you heat and a happy ending. We start off just as Olivia get Mark in her sights, and we follow them...

BLOG TOUR: Bella Key by Scarlet Chastain

Image
Scarlet Chastain has just released her debut story Bella Key , and she's here today talking about being a F/F erotic romance author. Welcome!! ***************************** Thank you for having me on Buffy’s Ramblings, BK! Now that my debut f/f erotic romance is published, one of the most asked question I receive is why f/f? The female/female dynamic intrigues me. Let’s face it, women are complex creatures! Men are at an extreme disadvantage at knowing which buttons to push. Women on the other hand, don’t need a manual. They know what their female partners want because they want the same thing. I love writing emotions into my love scenes. The emotional level is kicked up to overdrive when both players are women because we need an emotional connection to feel aroused. Bella Key is a story of one woman quest for happiness that happens to end in the arms of another woman. It’s a love story first, a lesbian story second. Maddie and Sunny’s sexy story released May 3rd...
