Yes, I’m reviewing the hugely popular (or mocked) Twilight movies. I saw the first three before finally reading the books. I’ve reviewed each of the books, so now I’ll talk about my thoughts on each of the movies and how they compare according to me (*BEWARE – there are some spoilers, particularly in the Breaking Dawn section): TWILIGHT When I first watched this movie, I didn’t know it was based on a book or much about it at all. My first impression was simply neutral. It wasn’t bad, but wasn’t some movie I was going to rush out and buy. However, it stuck with me. I found myself thinking about unique the lore was and how much the hopeless romantic in me liked Bella and Edward’s story. I did in fact go out and buy it so I could watch it again. This one sticks quite close to the book, only cutting out minor scenes that added effect from the book. The biggest difference is Bella’s revelation that she knows Edward’s secret. If I had to pick a favorite book ever, it would be The Host by Stephenie Meyer. So when it started circulating that the book was being made into a movie, I was so frickin’ excited! I was a mean person and too impatient to wait for my best friend to get the opportunity to see the movie, so I went myself. Here are my thoughts on it: In all honesty, the movie was depressingly disappointing. I understand that it’s a long book so there’s just no way to put every little thing into the movie, which was still just over two hours long, but there were some little things missing that broke my heart to have absent. There’s also things that need to be changed from book to movie for the same purpose, but some of the changes completely altered the affect in the movie. I will admit that I’m probably making too many comparisons to the book, but naturally it’s nearly impossible not to do so when I’m as passionate about the story as I am.
