For the Love of Mythology Giveaway Hop!

So this blog hop is all about Mythology and why we all love it. Whether it be Greek, Roman, Egyptian, etc., it just captivates us. My favorite has always been Greek Mythology. I used to be a big Xena: Warrior Princess fan, and I still think of the Greek gods as those characters to this day. I haven't read too many books with a mythology theme, but the few I have were interesting and fun even if they weren't my favorite stories.
My very favorite mythology related series however is the Percy Jackson & The Olympians series by Rick Riordan. My favorite mythology related series is Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series. I love how she incorporates the gods with the Dark-Hunters and how she puts her own little twist on the gods and the limitations they have.

As a child I fell in love with Greek mythology. My favorite book on mythology right now is American Gods by Gaiman.

I love anything Greek and Roman, Egyptian, Celtic, and Norse. Recent new reads I discovered is the Iron Druid series and it centers around Celtic and other myths which is fun.

ReplyDeleteOoh..I love mythology. The fascination started as a teenager and has continues on. I read Sherriyln Kenyon's dark series, Laura Kaye has an awesome series as well. Donna Grant is another along with an older series by Gena Showalter. I'm sure there are others but can't recall them at the moment :)

I read a Norse & Celtic folklore and mythology. My fave books are The Iron Druid series by Kevin Hearne (I LOVE Atticus & Oberon)!

ReplyDeleteI truly love mythology! When I saw that this hop was coming months and months ago, I was so psyched to get involved and start hopping! My favorites from Greek mythology are the story of Achilles, Athena because she's the Goddess of Love and Wisdom (both awesome things to be a GODDESS of! Plus, I LOVE her name!) and the Sirens. Women who can control men when they sing. As a singer myself, I loved the allure of this myth. As far as other mythology goes, I love vampires. They look like humans, feel like humans, act like humans, but they are not human. It's so insanely hot that they are some sort of superhuman with superhuman drawbacks, of course. No sunlight… that's a bummer. It's a wonder not every vampire is majorly depressed due to an insane Vitamin D deficiency!

My favorite myth is Osiris and Isis. There are probably a lot of books that have some mythology here and there but I just didn't realize it. The only one that comes to mind is P.C. Cast's Night House series. She uses Nyx, the goddess of night.
