BLOG TOUR: The Coven by Verdell Walker

Thanks to Bewitching Book Tours for hosting this blog tour. I have the author of The Covern, Verdell Walker, here talking about her favorite places on the net. Welcome!

Verdell Walker’s Top 10 Favorite Things from Around the Web

I know a lot of authors do top 10 lists about books, what they’re reading, etc. But I thought I would mix it up a bit and share a list of some of my favorite sites/apps/tools. I hope you find something below that rocks your world!

1. P.S. – I made this - I love doing arts and crafts, and I always get the best ideas from this blog. Even if I don’t make the item, I’m always just impressed with her creativity.

2. My Permissions - This website makes it easy to see all the places that monitor your web activity and revoke access for unnecessary or invasive ones. It makes it easy to de-authorize services with one click. I’m hyperparanoid about Internet privacy, so this was a great way to keep tabs on it.

3. Poach It - This is one of the greatest things EVER. All you have to do is download their browser button to use it. Once it’s installed, when you see something you like, it pulls up coupon codes for the site you’re on, a lot of which you would never even know about. You can also track products and it will email you when the price drops or the item goes on sale. I introduced a coworker of mine to this, and she told me I’d created a monster.

4. Wendy’s Lookbook - I’m a fashion junkie, and I really like the way Wendy puts outfits together. I get a lot of inspiration for my own wardrobe here.

5. Gyft - This app lets you store and redeem all of your gift cards on your phone. You can also send gift cards to friends and family with it too. Now you can get rid of all that plastic…

6. What Kate Wore - I’m mildly obsessed with the Duchess of Cambridge and I really like the way she dresses. I’ve bought quite a few “Kate-inspired” pieces. I just think she always looks like a lady, which is more than you can say for a lot of celebrities.

7. Yapp - I have no coding skills whatsoever, so I was really happy to find Yapp. It lets you create mobile apps around events you’re having (like book blog tours!). Hopefully they’ll have a platform that allows you to build apps for non-event related things in the future. I think it’s a great tool for writers especially, because you can create something to engage with readers easily.

8. ACutieChick - This is one of my favorite Etsy shops. Her jewelry is one of a kind and really pretty. Great when you want something that no one else has!

9. Baublebar - I always feel guilty introducing women to this because it can quickly become a bad habit! Baublebar has the best fashion jewelry at really amazing prices. It’s great because the right accessories can really liven up any outfit.

10. The Pioneer Woman Cooks - I’m really into cooking, and this is one of my favorite food blogs. I’m from the South, so I really appreciate her “down home” cooking style.

The Coven: Fire and Ice

After her clique's bullying causes a classmate's suicide, Kat Grey trades the vicious world of the California "in crowd" for the chance to become a better person in Massachusetts. But when she steps in to protect a classmate from being bullied, Kat sparks a war with Hannah, Milton Academy's resident Queen Bee.

Kat's courage and compassion attract the attention of Blaze Ward, Hannah's ex-boyfriend. As they fall in love, Kat discovers that Blaze is more than the boy next door. He's a warlock. He is also the leader of an in-crowd like no other - the Brotherhood, five young warlocks charged with defending witches and humanity from a demonic adversary named Seth.

Kat challenges Blaze to become a better man and leader while he helps her find redemption as she makes it her mission to stop bullying at Milton. But when Hannah teams up with Seth to destroy her, Kat becomes a hostage in the age-old war between the Brotherhood and their greatest enemy. Saving Kat will require more than Blaze's strength and skill; it will mean breaking one of his kind's most sacred laws. Blaze will have to make a choice: his honor or Kat's life.
