REVIEW: Lover Unleashed by JR Ward

Payne, twin sister of Vishous, is cut from the same dark, seductive cloth as her brother. Imprisoned for eons by their mother, the Scribe Virgin, she finally frees herself-only to face a devastating injury. Manuel Manello, M.D., is drafted by the Brotherhood to save her as only he can-but when the human surgeon and the vampire warrior meet, their two worlds collide in the face of their undeniable passion. With so much working against them, can love prove stronger than the birthright and the biology that separates them?

Title:  Lover Unleashed
Series:  Black Dagger Brotherhood
Book #: 9
Author:  JR Ward
Approximate Book Length:  513 Pages
Recommended Reader Age:  18+
Sexual Content:  Moderate

Payne is so naive and sweet with a fighter's spirit. She and Manny are kind of adorable together. Her relationship with V though is somewhat complicated. Truthfully, while I'm happy Payne's story goes the way it does, it's actually V's POV that held me riveted. He and Butch turn a new corner together and V and Jane are brought closer which was much needed. Things leave off in a good place, but there are definitely some obstacles for everybody going forward.

Bottom Line:

Lover Unleashed was good, but ultimately feels kind of open-ended and, other than a few moments between V and Butch, doesn't really leave a lasting impression.
