REVIEW: Blood Avenged by Gabrielle Bisset

Recap:

Vasilije is a powerful vetted vampire who embraces and enjoys what he is, including making vampires. When one of his own is staked, he takes it personally and utilizes every resource at his disposal, meeting Sasa along the way. She’s beautiful and arouses him like he’s not known in centuries and the attraction almost drives him to distraction from his need for vengeance, but what he learns about the plots behind the killing may tear both of their worlds apart.

Thoughts:

Sasa is a girl that would do anything for what little family she’s got left, including bravely entwine herself in the lives of vampires, but will the surprising reward be worth the cost? Vasilije is content with his life, despite the feeling that something’s missing. Somehow Sasa seems to fill the void within him, but the stakes are high and things are not all as they seem. He fights to survive long enough to protect her, deciding to cross the “can-we-make-it-work” bridge when he gets to it.

The characters were well developed and the main conflict strong enough to keep you guessing until the very end. It was well written and the connection between Vas (I like to call him this or Vasily because I honestly don’t know how to properly pronounce his name) and Sasa is so compelling, despite the nagging doubts they both harbor. What I found really neat about Vas’s character is that he genuinely enjoyed being a vampire, and not in the monstrous “I like killing people” kind of way. He just went about his night and made no excuses for his nature other than to say, “I’m a vampire, it’s what I do”.

It felt a little awkward as the ending came out of nowhere and there were a couple little occurrences that never get answered, but they’re pretty overlookable as the rest of the story definitely makes up for it.

In Conclusion:

Don’t miss out on a sexy, mysterious, and exciting experience with lovable characters and an ominous ending that will leave you wanting to move right on to the next book!
