When Alex introduces Scout to the world of Shifters and Seers, it changes everything. She thought she knew her friends, her family, but now she sees them in a whole new light.

This is a great debut by Tammy Blackwell, and a really sweet and exciting book! Scout is a pretty typical teenager, who happens to be totally in love with her step brother, Jase’s, cousin Charlie. When a new kid rolls into town, her world is turned upside down. He seems to pay special attention to her, but his brother appears to hate her, and she has no idea why. Strange things start to happen, particularly the behavior of Jase, Charlie, Alex, and Talley, her best friend. Territorial werewolves and were-coyotes, seers that can get visions of the future to aid the pack they’re allied with, and everyone she cares about seems to fall into this wacky world.

What I love about this story is that I don’t have any trouble believing in everything that happens. I think everyone behaves reasonably under the circumstances, so there’s not even the “yeah, right” factor when someone reacts a certain way. I want to smack Jase, and even occasionally Charlie, but mostly I just love Alex. He’s so sweet, cute, and smart. Yeah it’s another shifter book, but it’s a good one, and I can’t wait to read the sequel, especially after that intriguing ending!

In Conclusion:

Go pick up this book if you want to read a fun and sweet YA paranormal romance, with a touch of heartache.
