REVIEW: Night Reigns by Dianne Duvall

Ami has issues when it comes to meeting new people, particularly when it comes to trusting them, but she’s no coward. When she comes upon a warrior gravely outnumbered, she doesn’t hesitate to help, though she had no idea what she was getting herself into. Marcus has been an Immortal Guardian for 800 years, and he’s perfectly content flying solo, so when Ami enters his life, it’s quite an adjustment. It’s especially hard because he can’t deny she’s smart, strong, and fierce, and finds himself helplessly attracted to her. As Marcus faces a repeat of history, Ami struggles with her secrets that could make or break everything they’ve managed to build.

Title:  Night Reigns

Dianne Duvall does it again! After a spectacular series debut, she follows it up with a stunning sequel. We met Ami in the last book and know she’s had it rough, but to learn more of her story and see her find the relationship she does with Marcus is so heartwarming you could cry. Marcus hasn’t had it easy himself, but he gets everything he never thought to look for in Ami and it’s amazing to watch his transformation from reckless curmudgeon to overprotective lover.

The bad guy in this one is definitely a proper villain, much darker and more dangerous than Bastien was in the last one. The mystery built around the conflict(s), around Seth, and around Ami is so well done. Ami’s big secret is one that I feel like I should’ve guessed, but never crossed my mind…well played! The anticipation for the conflict resolution in future books and for Seth’s big reveal is exquisite, I can’t wait for more!

In Conclusion:

A story that could stand on its own, Night Reigns is a gripping tale with an oh so sweet romance, sensual passion, and a compelling plot. You won’t be able to get enough and will be left clamoring for more by the end. Dianne Duvall and her Immortal Guardians are still among my favorites!
