REVIEW: The Case of the Voracious Vintner by Tara Lain
Summary:
Where Bo Marchand comes from, gay men are just confirmed bachelors who never found the right girl. But now Bo’s a successful winemaker on the central coast of California, supporting his whole damned Georgia family, and all he really wants is the beautiful, slightly mysterious Jeremy Aames.
Jeremy’s vineyard is under threat from Ernest Ottersen, the voracious winemaker who seems to know all Jeremy’s blending secrets and manages to grab all his customers. Bo tries to help Jeremy and even provides a phony alibi for Jeremy when Ottersen turns up dead in Jeremy’s tasting room. But it’s clear Jeremy isn’t who he claims, and Bo must decide if it’s worth tossing over his established life for a man who doesn’t seem to trust anyone. When Jeremy gets kidnapped, some of the conservative winemakers turn out to be kinky sex fiends, and the list of murderers keeps dwindling down to Jeremy. Bo has to choose between hopping on his white horse or climbing back in his peach-pie-lined closet.

Thoughts:
There feels like some big stakes in this book, but honestly it's a little hilarious overall. Some of the bedroom talk was just goofy for one, but mainly it's the ending. I caught some hints and all that for one conflict that was kinda sad, but the other took me by surprise and it's just funny. There's so much going on and so many leads or factors or whatever that I asked myself frequently wtf was going on. I love a mystery I can't guess quickly!
As always, I loved all the characters. Bo's southern charm is enchanting and Jeremy's just so compelling. They're adorable together and I really felt for both of them in various ways, particularly Bo's familial obligations and Jeremy's circumstances. We get lots of involvement from Llewellyn and Blaise from book one, and I can't help but wonder who's next and what trouble will they get into!

Bottom Line:
The Case of the Voracious Vintner is full of twists and turns and a lot of charm. It'll leave you craving more as well as some wine to go with it!
