REVIEW: Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison

***This book was originally reviewed for My Secret Romance.***

Pia has managed to stay under the Wyrkind radar all her life, but finds herself the target of one of the most powerful of all the Elder Races after being blackmailed into stealing from him. Dragos can’t believe that someone would not only have the audacity to steal from him, but actually pulled it off! There are unexpected consequences when he actually finds his thief, and they end up facing more than they bargained for.

I have some mixed feelings about this book. I will admit I had high expectations, which is usually a setup for disappointment, and it was to a point. I wasn’t blown away by the book, but I did enjoy it. I like Pia, and Dragos is pretty dreamy, however they both had their flaws. Pia’s flaws were endearing, but Dragos took some getting used to. I like an alpha male, but he’s downright overbearing. I did, however, adore how he learned to say please!

The urban fantasy setting was pretty cool. I liked the different races and how they’re set up. It definitely has room for sequels that can go in just about any direction. I also liked that while some of the races were about what I expected, others weren’t quite typical. Not everything and everyone is as they seem and it made for some very interesting experiences.

The plot is where I had some issues. There are some questions left unanswered, some loose ends not quite tied up, and there were some events and experiences that I felt were unnecessary to the book and/or unrealistic under the circumstances.

Overall, I really enjoyed a lot of the characters, including many of the secondary ones, and while it didn’t knock my socks off, Dragon Bound was an enjoyable read and I’m looking forward to checking out the next book!
