REVIEW: Destiny’s Shadow by Ann Gimpel

Moira is a park ranger and she throws herself into work to escape her cheating shaman husband, but inadvertently runs into an old flame. She and Tim split under less than stellar circumstances and running into him again has old feelings stirring again. During a horrific winter storm, they’ll rediscover their love, and find they’ll need Tim’s druid heritage if they want to survive both the storm and her husband’s vengeance.

Title:  Destiny's Shadow

Author:  Ann Gimpel
Approximate Book Length:  75 Pages
Recommended Reader Age:  18+

This was kind of a neat read. The druidic magic vs shaman magic was a little vague, but still pretty cool. The suspense created by Moira’s predicament was great, and her husband is the kind of villain you have no problem hating.

I did have some mixed feelings though. Moira seemed a little shallow, having left Tim in the first place simply because he wouldn’t sleep with her. I get that they’ve both grown over the ten years apart, but I still just wasn’t fond of Moira much because she really seemed to have given up on Tim, who seemed like a great guy, simply because she wanted to get laid. That being said, I did appreciate the ending and the bond that Tim and Moira established.

In Conclusion:

If you’re looking for a quick read with magic and suspense, check out Destiny’s Shadow.
