REVIEW: Their Second Chance by April Angel

After five years with a man she loved, Ariana Parker held divorce papers in hand. From the moment she met him, Nick was the only man to make her body burn and fill her heart with joy, but somewhere along the way, they lost their ability to communicate--in any language.

Nick Parker lost the woman he loved to the trials of conception. Their inability to cope with their failure broke down their relationship and their friendship. And now, he's left with a woman he lusts after, longs for, and doesn't know how to reach.

One locked door and plenty of time to hash out their problems will either leave them broken forever or might just be the glue that holds them together.

This story just felt real. Its level of authenticity really makes the entire book. One of the things I appreciated the most was that despite how close these two people are a couple, they still can’t read each other’s minds. It takes communication to make a relationship (of any kind) work.

While many things were predictable, some things weren’t – such as what exactly strands them in a room together forcing them to hash out their issues. I loved the characters, and how they were consistent throughout the story. I didn’t like Nick’s attitude about his mother in the beginning, but really liked how that whole thing played out. Even the predictable things (and people) were so strong that it made a major impact.

The ending is super cute and sweet, and as I knew I would, I cried many times throughout the book, including at the end. It’s a highly emotional book that is a fast read even though it’s tough because it’s just so heartbreaking at times.

Bottom Line:

Their Second Chance will take you through some tissues, especially if you can personally relate to the trials of conception. It’s sweet, fun, and will have you on the edge of your seat as you finish it in one sitting unable to put it down!
